Avani Hotels & Resorts has announced its debut in Spain and Italy with the opening of Avani Alonso Martínez Madrid and Avani Palazzo Moscova Milan.
Avani Alonso Martínez Madrid is a stone’s throw from the central square and dates to 1919, sporting a century-old façade with wrought-iron balconies. The property has been renovated to include contemporary design elements. Guests are greeted by a sculpture of a yellow cat, an animal associated with the locals. The walls of the colorful lobby are enhanced with signs displaying typical Madrileño expressions, and the stairwell pays homage to the region’s traditional dress with a series of Manila shawls hand-painted on the walls.
Avani Alonso Martínez Madrid has 101 rooms integrating modern technology with elements honoring the city’s heritage. The bedcovers portray a traditional houndstooth pattern; the headboards sport cat designs; vintage-style paintings depict local festivities such as San Isidro; and the lampshades display vintage maps of the city center.
Among the updates? The hotel has expanded the breakfast area for an enhanced dining experience. Guests can also enjoy the convenience of The Pantry, offering a flexible solution with a selection of coffee, pastries, salads and sandwiches. The hotel is also home to the AvaniFit gym. Guest programming includes Segway adventures to lesser-known spots to check out the city’s murals and graffiti displays; picnics in Retiro Park; “Wine Gogh,” a glow-in-the-dark painting workshop with wine tastings; and private dinners held in hidden galleries and studios.
In Italy, Avani Palazzo Moscova Milan is positioned between two districts: Porta Nuova and Corso Como. It is housed within a neoclassical building that once stood as the city’s first railway station. The hotel houses 65 rooms and suites in a palette of soothing white and beige tones.
At the signature seafood restaurant, Forte Milano, guests can savor Mediterranean-inspired dishes influenced by the flavors of the Tyrrhenian Sea. In addition to The Pantry and AvaniFit gym, the hotel is home to the AmaTi Spa. Offering a sauna, hammam and jacuzzi, the spa is located within the original vaults of the former railway station, and offers a personalized selection of treatments. The hotel’s range of guest experiences includes pasta making classes with a local chef; a tour of the city aboard a restored 1971 Fiat 500; a private shopping tour; and an Instagram-inspired photoshoot that captures the essence of the historic city center.
These new openings mark Avani’s expansion in the European market, with additional properties set to launch in key cities across Italy and Germany in the coming months, and the Netherlands next year. The brand will also make its entrance into South and Central America later this year with upcoming properties in Colombia and Mexico.
