Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts is headed to the Caribbean. Island Developers and Banyan Tree have announced a partnership that brings the brand’s first property in the Caribbean to the Bahamas. Banyan Tree illa Bahamas, located in Bailey Town on the island of Bimini is just a 20-minute seaplane ride from Miami.
The 40-acre, eco-conscious resort, designed by architect Chad Oppenheim, will consist of 50 keys and 54 luxury residences that range from three to four bedrooms. Guests can expect overwater accommodations, touted as the first “authentic Maldives-style overwater bungalows in the Caribbean.” Hotel suites will include private terraces and plunge pools.
Guests can expect culinary pop-ups, curated music series, oceanside meditations at the Banyan Tree Spa and more. The resort also provides guests will the opportunity to spot wild dolphins and visit colorful coral reefs. Banyan Tree says the resort aims to mimic the lifestyle in the Bahamas, which is “all about escaping the relentless pace of daily life, slowing down and disconnecting and focusing on the things that bring the most pleasure: nature, family quality time and simplicity.”
Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio includes close to 50 properties across four brands and 24 countries. The project is set to break ground spring 2020; there's no word yet on when the hotel is expected to open.
