Palau Sa Font Palma de Majorca, Majorca, Spain

8Telegraph expert rating

The four-star Palau sa Font is an elegant pink building with green shutters that dates back to the 16th century. An arched entrance with an impressive wooden door leads you into a space where traditional features such as a plant-filled courtyard and open-stone walls contrast with contemporary features that include a turquoise mosaic bar and furniture in zingy shades. It is all about personal service here with the emphasis on making each guest feel at home. There is a plunge pool on a terrace as well as a covered lookout terrace right at the top of the hotel – a good spot for reading. The buffet, laid out in the pleasant ground-floor bar, offers lots of local produce – quality rather than quantity is always a good sign. Read expert review. From £57per night. Check availability. Hotel Tres Palma de Majorca, Majorca, Spain

8Telegraph expert rating

Hotel Tres is a 16th-century urban hotel situated in the liveliest part of Palma’s Old Town. Once housed in a former palace dating back to 1597, the hotel has been tastefully converted into a 41-room boutique hotel. Swedish-owned, a Scandinavian aesthetic is evident throughout. From the leather sofas, funky, coloured chairs, and black-and-white photography in the bar to the wood decking on the roof terraces, it’s sleek and pared-back, yet comfortably inviting. After a day of sightseeing, the two roof terraces are a welcome retreat from the busy scene playing out on the streets below. They are perfect spots to stretch out on a sun lounger and catch some rays, cool off in the small plunge pool or sweat it out in the sauna – all with views across the rooftops to the sea and mountains. Read expert review. From £79per night. Check availability.
