This hotel occupies a beautiful listed bathhouse that dates back to the 19th century. Guests will find original staircase banisters, inner walls and even old doors protected in glass, as well as tasteful contemporary art that create a savvy fusion of new and old. The 20-metre pool is an architecturally handsome space open to the public as well as to hotelguests, and a boon for children. It does require a small fee, even for guests (€6 for adults; €4 for children). There are 70 lovely rooms, a decent restaurant and a great location in Berlin’s laid-back Prenzlauer Berg district. The small apartment (sleeps up to eight) is suitable for families, and have the best views. As the name suggests, the apartments are within easy striking distance of the Berlin Hauptbahnhof (a nine-minute walk to be precise). Though the immediate vicinity might feel a bit like a no-man’s land, the Museum of Natural History is right across the road, the Hamburger Bahnhof modern art museum is a seven-minute walk away, and you can also stroll to the Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate in 20 minutes. The 139 rooms, split between one- to two-bedroom apartments and studio rooms, are generously-proportioned, and there's a nearby supermarket if you want to make use of your kitchenette (or you can avail yourself of the convenient grocery delivery service).
