The Bodrum EDITION, the latest EDITION concept from Ian Schrager, has officially opened in the Yalikavak Bay. Schrager, in partnership with Marriott International, is responsible for the concept, programming, and creative direction of the new property. The new hotel has luxury rooms and spaces, a beach area, multiple dining options, health and wellness experiences, and a vista overlooking the waters of the Turkish Riviera.
Set within 72,200 square feet, the property draws inspiration from local influences and native natural resources while infusing each space with modern touches. For example, native olive trees that are significant to the Turkish landscape as well as local stone have been used throughout the resort to create a sustainable scene that blends with the natural surroundings.
The grounds begin at the highest altitude of the property, where the hotel’s open reception area sits. Its contemporary glass atrium frames the view over the bay that receives guests upon arrival. Filled with a variety of seating groupings and lounging areas, the lobby is a place where guests can relax, socialize, and network. The informal lobby bar will welcome guests to enjoy a Turkish tea or home-made lemonade upon the terrace while overlooking the coastline.
As the horseshoe-shaped grounds slope downward towards the beach and jetty with its private cabanas, the pathways and leisure areas are interspersed by the hotel’s 102 guest rooms, bungalows with private pools and four-bedroom private villa with pool. Between these are the lounge bars, and cocktail areas, as well as the hotel’s two signature restaurants by Peruvian Chef Diego Munoz, formerly of El Bulli and Mugaritz.
Discetto, the night club at The Bodrum EDITION, will showcase live music, DJs, EDITION cocktail mixology, and bar and lounge areas. For private events and business travelers, the hotel also has over 4,000 square feet of both indoor and outdoor meeting and event space including meeting studios, a ballroom for events, parties, and weddings. At the base of the resort lays an infinity pool which ends at the sea.
The hotel’s 350-foot long beach area will play host to one of the main social hubs of the resort, with its casual-cool beach bar and club welcoming resident guests to lounge in the private cabanas. A casual menu that lends itself to relaxed, al fresco dining will be on offer to with dishes celebrating the biodiversity of the local environment such as ceviche and a variety of flatbread served from a traditional outdoor brick oven.
Throughout the property, guests can find several specialty restaurants. The largest of these, Kitchen at The Bodrum EDITION, will deliver a Mediterranean menu designed around health and wellness. Meanwhile, BRAVA, will serve up family-style dishes of Latin American cuisine inspired by Mediterranean and Asian flavors using local produce.
In addition to the hotel’s infinity pool, garden lounge, and dining options, The Bodrum EDITION houses a spa facility complete with Turkish Hammam, salt treatment room, sauna, steam room and plunge pool. In all, 14 treatment rooms will be available.
The Bodrum EDITION’s rooms, suites, and private villa include warm wood finishes and airy fabrics to create a beach-house feel. The rooms contrast stone floors against a light color palette, with each space offering ensuite marble bathrooms and terraces with a view over the Aegean Sea. A private villa offers its own private pool area and sauna, while two further suites have private plunge pools and terraces.
