El Capitan Hotel has announced its partnership with Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS). Located in downtown Merced, known as “the Gateway to Yosemite,” the hotel is now offering motor coach service to and from the national park for overnight guests as a part of its bookable “Yosemite or Bust!” hotel package. The renovated 114-room, 19th-century property is a less-crowded basecamp for day trips to the national park.
YARTS' blue line (Highway 140) pick-up is a five-minute walk from the property, and is about a 90-minute drive into the park. The summer service offers multiple pick-up times in the morning and drop off times in the afternoon and evening. Throughout the summer, Yosemite offers travelers abundant hiking, guided tours, educational ranger programs, biking, bird-watching, fishing, horseback riding, stargazing, and more.
El Capitan sits in the heart of downtown, providing accessibility to local entertainment, shopping and retail, as well as access to both routes that lead to Yosemite National Park. Alongside Rainbird, a fine-dining tasting menu concept, visitors can find light breakfast and lunch, and craft cocktails at Native Son, or can enjoy live entertainment at Mainzer, a restored 1930s theater with upscale American comfort food, a self-serve beer bar, and a retro-gaming area.
