Beach Terrace in Carlsbad, CA has completed a $5.5 million dollar renovation covering property-wide upgrades, including revamped guestrooms, a refreshed lobby, and enhanced pool and beach experience.
Located along the Carlsbad shoreline, the family-owned and operated boutique hotel partnered with Mariana Valero, the principal architect at Amass & G, to renovate its 48 guestrooms, which span 600 square feet on average. The refreshed guestrooms now have a palette of neutral sand tones mixed with pops of color, organic textures, plank flooring, custom furniture and private balconies—some even cantilevered over the sand—offering beachfront views.
The hotel also offers 12 rooms spanning 700 square feet, each with king-sized beds repositioned to face the horizon, and the ocean a mere 40 feet away. All guestrooms include spa bathrooms with glass-enclosed rainfall showers and custom-labeled bath and shower amenities by L.A.-based Apothia. In-room technology offers access to streaming accounts directly from hotel TVs, Bluetooth connectivity and complimentary Wi-Fi, even on the beach.
Guests can choose from a pillow menu offering eight types of pillows, and an assortment of coffees. Additionally, guests can choose from a range of inspirational books for bedside reading. Other amenities include a complimentary beach valet service that provides umbrellas, beach chairs, towels, boogie boards and beach toys, a bike rental service, in-room yoga mats, and an enhanced brunch menu with in-room delivery.
Overlooking the beach, the heated Shorebreak Pool has updated lounge chair seating, umbrellas and multiple communal fire pits.
“The concept of local and sustainable were on our minds as we envisioned the new Beach Terrace,” said Kent Zittlau, general manager. “Our new experiences focus on being authentically local through art, landscaping, amenities, and our laid-back vibe in a quaint village neighborhood.”
Located just steps from Carlsbad Village, Beach Terrace is within walking distance of 100-plus of the area’s retail, activities, and dining outlets. Additional nearby attractions include the Legoland theme park and Sea Life Aquarium; the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch; South Oceanside; and the New Village Arts professional theater.
