Catbird, an Independent, Extended-Stay Hotel, Opens in Denver

Catbird, an independent hotel by Sage Hospitality Group opened in Denver’s RiNo Art District last month. The 165-room extended-stay hotel aims to blur the lines between hotel and home with its adaptable, multi-functional spaces and "home-away-from-home" amenities.

Full kitchens in each guestroom offer high-end housewares, including the all-in-one nonstick "Always Pan from Our Place," cooking essentials such as individually packaged, pre-measured spices from Occo and more. Additionally, rooms have custom-built, multi-functional furniture, including a lofted bed that sits atop a pull-out closet and desk. Large windows transform into viewing screens, and short-throw projectors provide a theater-like experience in each room.

The architectural design of Catbird pays homage to RiNo’s industrial foundations, flourishing art scene and history. In addition to its 165 rooms, the hotel has a 2,500-square-foot, four-bedroom historic home, originally built in 1890. The home has been preserved as part of Catbird for groups of up to 12 guests and has been completely updated with high-touch amenities and contemporary décor—well-suited for a family reunio, bachelor/bachelorette weekend or corporate retreat.

Catbird’s lobby houses the Catbird Kitchen, offering coffee and grab-and-go dining, including take-and-bake meal kits to prepare in-room. Additionally there is also a library, curated by Denver staple Tattered Cover Book Store.

The 17,700-square-foot rooftop provides a 360-degree view of Denver’s skyline and the Rocky Mountains. There is a 3,300-square-foot outdoor deck with lounge seating and fire pits, an amphitheater and stage for live music, a lawn with life-sized games and hot tubs, as well as the indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar, The Red Barber.

The Catbird Playroom provides gear rentals to explore Denver with everything from Vespas, bikes and skateboards, to cameras and GoPros, as well as games and musical instruments. Among other amenities are complimentary laundry facilities; long-term storage and smart lockers for package deliveries; water dispensers with sparkling and chilled water on each floor; and a fitness center with Peloton bikes, treadmills, rowing machines, cross trainers and free weights. For those traveling with a dog, a dog run is available, while all guests can look after a plant during their stay through the plant rental program, in partnership with Denver’s ReRoot.

In addition to the rooftop deck, Catbird has a 525-square-foot Media Room for up to 35 people, equipped with a large screen presentation TV and conference call capabilities. The Dining Room, with space for up to six people, is also available, in addition to private booths for individuals—ideal for digital nomads and gig workers.

Staying at Catbird provides easy access to Denver’s top attractions. A short walk from Regional Transportation District’s 38th and Blake station, Catbird guests can easily get to neighboring parts of Denver, such as Coors Field, Union Station and Denver International Airport  via the A Line
