Work on The Chatwal Lodge began yesterday in Bethel, New York. Developer Dream Hotel Group expects the five-star luxury property to open in spring 2020.
When it arrives, The Chatwal Lodge will consist of 34 private villas and suite accommodations. The hotel will provide guests with farm-to-table dining by DUCASSE Paris, founded by multi-Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse.
Located in the Catskill Mountains on the shore of the Toronto Reservoir, The Chatwal Lounge is a part of a larger economic development plan for Bethel. Ninety miles from midtown Manhattan, the area has seen an increasing number of visitors coming for recreational activities; the lodge is expected to capitalize on these visitors.
The groundbreaking ceremony yesterday was attended by New York State Assembly Member Aileen M. Gunther, Bethel Town Supervisor Dan Sturm and an assortment of Dream Hotel Group executives.
“The Chatwal Lodge will bring full- and part-time jobs, both during construction and after it opens,” said Sturm. “The new tourists and visitors that will come to Bethel will also bring new commerce and better economic opportunity for all the businesses already located here.”
Dream Hotel Group has 18 hotels open today with another 20 new locations under development worldwide. The company expects to triple its existing portfolio by 2022.
