Cottar’s Safaris in Kenya has announced the opening of two new tents at Cottar’s 1920s Camp (one honeymoon and one luxury double), as well as two fully renovated luxury double tents—all 40 percent larger.
All four canvas tents are 538 square feet—named Molo, Ndovu, Athi and Kudu, after rivers and animals. They offer views across the savannah, wooden floors, living areas and en-suite wallpapered bathrooms, all while maintaining Cottar’s Safaris’ romantic 1920s aesthetic.
Molo, the new honeymoon tent, is set away from the camp for added exclusivity with its own outdoor bathtub. For enhanced flexibility, the Athi, Ndovu and Kudu tents have been furnished with a daybed, which can be made up as an additional single bed, making these tents well suited for a family stay as well.
With the addition of these new tents, Cottar’s 1920s Camp now comprises 11 luxury tents—which includes five Luxury Double Tents, two romantic Honeymoon Tents and four open-planned Family Tented Suites, all with en-suite bathrooms, living rooms with cozy fireplaces and plenty of space and privacy.
Rates include wildlife drives, walking safaris, Maasai Warrior School and a vast array of experiential and educational activities (excluding park and conservation fees). Located in the private Olderkesi Conservancy, a wildlife-rich conservancy leased from the Maasai community on the border of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Cottar’s Safaris is owned and managed by the fifth-generation of the pioneering Cottar family, who have been operating in Africa for more than 100 years.
