Travel Agent attended an Island Destinations (ID) event at the St. Regis New York Thursday night and learned that popular luxury wholesaler has added Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in the Bahamas to its portfolio and plans to add the rest of Baha Mar in the future.
“We know this is a project that had been delayed for a while, but we expect that the Island Destinations endorsement will give people confidence in this resort,” says Palumbo. “We had our team check out every aspect of the resort. We don’t add anything until we decide if its fits our luxury collection. We think Grand Hyatt and the other hotels all do and we want to add all of them at some point.”
At the Grand Hyatt, guests can take advantage of a wide range of services within the Baha Mar Resort, including a 30,000-square-foot ESPA Spa; a 100,000-square-foot casino that has 1,140 slots, 119 game tables and one-of-a-kind direct ocean views; a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course, tennis courts and facilities; and The Baha Mar Convention, Art and Entertainment Center. Many of these amenities are reported to be operational already.
Meanwhile, it was announced in March that the Rosewood Baha Mar would open by 2018. The resort will have 185 ocean view rooms and suites, as well as five luxurious beachfront villas, which will be contemporary and residential in style. All guest rooms will offer private balconies with outdoor living areas, while the luxurious four-bedroom villas will have exceptional tranquility, exclusive services and a private pool.
In March, SLS Baha Mar announced it was aiming for an opening date in the fourth quarter of this year.
ID’s Other Hot New Caribbean Hotels
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar may be the latest, but it’s not the only hot, trendy Caribbean hotel ID has added lately. Palumbo told Travel Agent ID added Turks and Caicos’ hottest, new luxury resort, The Shore Club on Long Bay Beach, last year. ID also recently added Grand Cayman’s hotels resort for Millennials, The Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, and St. Kitts’ much-anticipated luxury hotel, the Park Hyatt St. Kitts.
