Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, a luxury hotel brand within the Accor hospitality group, has announced that it is expanding into the Mexican state of Baja California Sur and its capital city La Paz with Fairmont La Paz Puerta Cortés Resort and Residences. The property is set to debut in 2023.
La Paz, located along the Sea of Cortés, is emerging as one of the most desirable resort locales in Mexico. Fairmont La Paz Puerta Cortés Resort and Residences will be located within the exclusive Puerta Cortés resort community, which is set on 550 acres of environmentally protected coastal lands and includes access to luxury amenities, including a marina and Mexico’s only Gary Player Signature golf course–El Cortés Golf Club.
Fairmont La Paz Puerta Cortés, a beachfront retreat for leisure and business travelers, will have 155 guestrooms and 24 suites, with select accommodations equipped with plunge pools; four food and beverage outlets, including beachfront dining venues; three outdoor pools; and a Wellness Village that includes a spa and various fitness offerings. Meetings and groups will have access to more than 13,000 square feet of event space, while there will be different clubs to engage children and young adults.
Fairmont La Paz Puerta Cortés will also include 61 one- to four-bedroom residences with private plunge pools. Owners will have access to all resort amenities along with an exclusive lounge, media room, gardens and an oasis with a pool.
Planning and architectural design of the resort is being led by global hospitality design firm Gensler, with support from studios in Mexico City and Costa Rica. Resort interiors, including the design of food and beverage outlets, are being led by New York City-based design studio Roman and Williams.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is located in over 80 locations worldwide. Fairmont La Paz Puerta Cortés Resort and Residences marks continued growth of Accor within North and Central America. The latest regional openings for the group include Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, which made its debut at the end of 2019; Fairmont El San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico, which opened in January 2020; the addition of Berkeley Park Hotel Miami to the MGallery Hotel Collection in April 2021; and, most recently, the opening of Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles in September 2021.
