Golden Rock Resort has become the first upscale lifestyle resort to open in the Dutch island of St. Eustatius (locally called "Statia"). The contemporary 32-guestroom hilltop resort spans 40 acres of lush landscaping and gardens and is situated near the island’s signature “Quill,” the dormant volcano that’s one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after hiking spots. The nature-inspired guestrooms and suites have modern finishes and ocean views. All accommodations offer open-air corridors, private balconies, sustainable amenities and refreshing décor. In April 2022, Golden Rock will add 22 oceanfront villas to its current roster.

Offsite adventures arranged by Golden Rock’s activities team include daily hikes and diving excursions. A Beach Club with an infinity pool is scheduled to be completed by 2022.
Breeze, the destination’s premier restaurant with unobstructed views of the ocean and neighboring islands of St. Kitts and St. Martin, serves dishes with local produce and global flavors such as the Caribbean Lobster—Thermidor Style, King Crab & Avocado with a spicy juzu vinaigrette and the Beef Tenderloin with choice of chimichurri, peppercorn sauce or breeze butter. The resort’s soon-to-open vegetable garden will supply an abundance of fresh ingredients to create an array of flavorful dining and craft cocktail experiences.
Golden Rock Resort also makes use of sustainable systems, including solar panels to completely power the resort; a reverse osmosis machine turning salt water into clean drinking water with a capacity to store 240,000 liters; and a helophyte filter used to clean dirty water through the use of reed and bamboo to be used for irrigation of the property’s plants and grass.
A 13 square mile island located between St. Kitts and St. Martin, Statia is home to 36 dive sites, 32 native bird species, and more protected historical monuments per square mile than any other Caribbean Island. Top attractions include The Quill National Park, featuring a dormant 2,000-foot volcano which lords over the island’s southern half and offers over a dozen trails that allow hikers to ascend through thorny woodland all the way up to the tropical forest at the crater’s rim; Boven National Park’s several trails that snake through valleys and along ridges, bringing visitors to secluded bays and viewpoints; St. Eustatius National Marine Park’s dive sites, which are considered one of the best five diving spots in the Caribbean as they feature a vast range of coral reefs, shipwrecks, volcanic fissures, pinnacles and beautiful walls; and the historical town center with hundreds of artefacts from the 18th century.
Statia is located 33 miles southwest of the coast of St. Maarten, a short yet stunning 20-minute plane ride to Statia’s F. D. Roosevelt airport. Connections in St. Maarten are available with regional and international carriers, including Caribbean Airlines, LIAT, KLM, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, US Airways and Air France. Ferry service will soon be available between Saba Island, St. Kitts and St Maarten.
