Habitas has announced its third hotel in Mexico, Habitas San Miguel, will be located on the outskirts of UNESCO World Heritage site San Miguel de Allende. Due to open this December, the new property is located just 10 minutes from the city’s historic center, situated in a natural park of hot springs and walking trails and offering views of the Valle de los Senderos and town.
Habitas San Miguel will have 60 sustainably built luxury rooms spread across open fields and towering stands of cactus. Guestrooms will be single-bedroom suites with limestone walls, private terraces and gardens, sustainable bedding and stylish decor from local artisans. In keeping with the brand’s commitment to locally sourced produce, the resort will initially offer one gourmet restaurant to guests and outside visitors with farm-to-table dining highlighting local recipes and ingredients. As part of the brand’s signature amenities, a “beach club,” with a real sand beach, inspired by Habitas’ famous beach club at its inaugural home in Tulum, will include a second restaurant and dedicated wellness center with natural swimming pools, hot springs, temazcal and a complete line of spa services. Yoga classes, breathwork and sound meditation will be available for guests upon the resort’s inauguration in December as part of Habitas’ regular programming.
Guests can expect experiences that align with Habitas’ renowned programming paired with San Miguel de Allende’s creative heritage, including artist residencies, cultural workshops, film screenings, cooking courses, book clubs, live concerts, and art walks. Guests will be able to take part in various activities such as equine therapy, mountain biking, hot air ballooning, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, sound healing, meditation with Tibetian singing bowls, and functional training with a military assault course on the property.
A spectacular agora, or gathering place, called La Troje, will offer views over the valley and will play host to concerts and wedding ceremonies. San Miguel de Allende is one of Mexico’s leading locations for destination weddings, and La Troje may be booked for intimate ceremonies or grand wedding celebrations attended by hundreds of guests. La Troje is also well suited for large-scale corporate events of up to 700 guests, with ample parking, a rarity in San Miguel.
Habitas San Miguel will be the brand's ninth “home” in the rapidly growing Habitas family, which includes properties in Tulum and Bacalar, Mexico, as well as concepts in Namibia and AlUla,Saudi Arabia. The brand has further expanded into the U.S. and Morocco, the latter with the launch of Caravan Agafay in October, offering a glamping-style experience with an elegant/bohemian vibe and views of the Atlas Mountains.
