This year, Hacienda Xcanatun by Angsana in Merida, Yucatan is celebrating its second anniversary by debuting a large expansion, including an increase in its inventory of suites, as well as new recreational areas, such as a solarium with poolside snack-bar, an Olympic-sized swimming pool and wellness center. All these facilities at the property will be open to the public starting July 2022.
There are 36 new suites, designed by a local architecture firm and its focus was on creating a blend of austere and avant-garde elements, such as wood, leather, regional limestone and native pasta floors, which were predominant in the henequen haciendas.
The solarium and pool area will have 32 lounge chairs, 14 Balinese beds, 10 lounges and four outdoor showers. The new snack bar will have a capacity of 50 diners besides an additional eight at the bar.
Once it begins welcoming guests in July, the property will usher in a new concept of “luxury urban resort” to Merida, where tradition, history, comfort and nature get together to create unforgettable experiences for guests.
