Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort, which made its debut on November 8, has announced the appointment of four new executives to join the opening team: Salvador Gutierrez as hotel manager, Alex Chávez Mah Eng as entertainment manager, and George Stanfield as complex managing director and Michel Auriemma as complex culinary director for both Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive and sister property Waldorf Astoria Cancun, which is scheduled to make its debut in 2022.
Gutierrez, a native of Veracruz, Mexico, has spent the last 20 years in a variety of positions at hotels across Mexico from hotel manager to room division manager and lead concierge. His most recent experience includes serving as hotel manager at Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort in Costa Mujeres, general manager at the Zoëtry Paraíso de la Bonita and resident manager at Secrets Maroma Beach. Gutierrez is well versed in hotel openings and operations, overseeing the rebranding and opening of AMResorts Sunscape Curaçao and Secrets Marquis Los Cabos. In his role as chief concierge at Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa, he was awarded "The Best Concierge of Mexico" in 2006. He will be responsible for pre-opening and post-opening hotel operations, and team member management while ensuring guest satisfaction in all service areas.
Chávez will be responsible for creating an itinerary of innovative and creative activities, sports and entertainment, including live shows and performances for hotel guests. Originally from Mexico City, he has almost 20 years of experience in entertainment management, holding this position at other resorts in Mexico, including Oasis Hotels & Resorts, Occidental Hotels & Resorts, AMResorts, Excellence Group Luxury Hotels & Resorts, and Grand Sunset & Riviera Princess Hotel.
Complex managing director Stanfield brings over 20 years of hospitality experience to his current position, overseeing operations at Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort, including the 715 guest rooms and suites, over 68,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting spaces and the resort’s amenities and programming. Stanfield began his career with Hilton in 1995 as an intern at the DoubleTree Hotel in Coconut Grove, Miami. Prior to his current position, he served as general manager at Hilton Buenos Aires, a 417-room hotel, where his work contributed to several national and international awards. Prior to his role at Hilton Buenos Aires, he held the position of general manager of Hilton Barbados Resort and Hilton Curaçao.
Auriemma joins the team as culinary director where he will be responsible for the opening and daily operations of all 12 food and beverage outlets on property. He brings over 25 years of experience overseeing operations for luxury hotels and resorts all over Mexico and beyond. New to the Hilton team, Auriemma previously held the position of executive chef at several resorts, including Azul Sensatori Resort by Karisma, Gran Bahia Principe Clubs & Resorts in Akumal, Avalon Resorts in Cancun, and Puerto Isla Mujeres. Prior to working with luxury hotels and resorts, he held positions as a freelance chef traveling the world and cooking for high-profile clients in Europe and aboard luxury private and charter mega yachts; a teacher at Le Cordon Bleu culinary institute; and a culinary consultant on food styling and photography for leading hospitality brands such as Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and various international culinary magazines.
