Italy is set to see an expansion of its luxury hotel portfolio in 2017 with highlights including new spas, golf courses, tech gadgets, and a revamped Michelin-starred restaurant.
Il Castefalfi
Located in the heart of Tuscany, The hotel Il Castefalfi is surrounded by miles of picturesque countryside. Complete with its own vineyard and the largest golf course in Tuscany, the luxury hotel is an ideal destination for wine lovers and golfers alike. The luxury hotel sits on a 2,700 acre estate village and is conveniently located in close proximity to Florence, Pisa and Siena.
For those looking to indulge in Italian delicacies, the resort offers its own restaurant, La Via del Sale, along with Ecru, Il Rosmarino and La Rocca Di Castelfalfi; and two bars; the Wine Tasting Room and Giglio Blu. Each eatery and watering hole offers the best of the onsite wine and olive oil production.
Il Castefalfi has 120 rooms and suites each offering unmatched views of the Tuscan countryside. Hotel Eden
Come April 2017, one of Rome’s most iconic hotels will reopen its doors after undergoing two years’ worth of extensive renovations. Said to enhance the hotels original design while preserving the spirit of the property, the updates will unveil 98 guestrooms and suites along with a food and drink concept with panoramic views of the capital city.
All guestrooms offer modern luxuries including master controlled lighting and climate control, high speed Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions and sound systems equipped with Bluetooth connectivity.
Additionally, Hotel Eden will introduce an urban spa that will offer various treatments and an accompanying blow-dry bar and manicure/pedicure space. The reinvention also has a few surprises in store, including a hidden library bar and an all-day brasserie on the top floor. Reservations are now open.

La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort
This Tuscan oasis is spread over 2,700 acres and divided across a number of buildings and two main hamlets, Borgo La Bagnai and Borgo la Filetta. The resort includes the Buddha Spa by Clarins and is connected to an 18-hole golf course. Additionally, facilities for both leisure and business travelers include two restaurants and two bars, three swimming pools, 12 treatment rooms, a tennis court, and spacious conference rooms.
La Bagnaia is situated 12km from the culture-rich city of Siena, allowing guests access to the city’s many attractions including the Piazza del Campo, the Mangia Tower and the Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral. Hotel VIU Milan
Set between Milan’s new financial district and the city center, Hotel VIU Milan will be one of the most unique additions to Italy’s hotel portfolio. The most interesting aspect, you ask? Hotel VIU will be draped in living greenery, creating a one-of-a-kind vertical garden. The hotel will boast 124 rooms and an outdoor swimming pool with 360 degree skyline views. Inside, the floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the interior in light and create stark contrast with the oak wood and dark flooring.
To add to the hotels individuality, several in-room offerings go above and beyond the typical luxury experience. Each room is equipped with jet-lag kits and high-tech gadgets. The hotel will also offer on-site Tesla cars and a personal shopper service.
For the foodies, Michelin-star chef Gianocarlo Morelli whips up authentic Milanese dishes at his self-titled restaurant inside the hotel. He also prepares the cuisine served at the property’s Bulk Restaurant, as well as the hotel’s Mixology Lounge Garden Bar and its Rooftop Terrace Bar. Hotel VIU Milan is now open.

Hotel Lungarno
Following a brief six month pause for refurbishments and revitalization, Hotel Lungarno will reopen its doors to guests in June. The luxury Florence hotel will undoubtedly maintain is signature blue accents, reflecting the River Arno which Hotel Lungarno sits directly above.
Instead of 78 rooms, the reinvented hotel will now have 68 spacious rooms and suites, 40 of which will have views of the River Arno and Ponte Vecchio. Additionally, Lungarno’s private terraces, breakfast room and Michelin-starred restaurant will all be revamped for the hotel’s reopening.
Reservations at the redesigned Hotel Lungarno can be made now for stays after June 1, 2017.
