La Colección Resorts by Fiesta Americana has announced the official opening of Live Aqua Urban Resort San Miguel de Allende, it’s first Live Aqua property in the destination and the fifth for the brand in Mexico.
The atmosphere is set upon arrival when guests approach the hacienda-style building, draped in green vines and bougainvillea, via a cobblestone street. A bronze sculpture, the Cabeza Vainilla created by local Mexican artist Javier Marin, sits next to a small fountain, welcoming everyone in the courtyard before they enter through double wooden doors.
The resort was developed by AoMa Estudio, based in Mexico City, that took inspiration from San Miguel de Allende by bringing in both small and large details from the city’s culture and colonial architecture such as plazas, gardens and patios, as well as its array of textures and shapes.
Accommodations
The walk to the guestrooms takes guests past stone walls through patios and flower-filled gardens, with views of the mountains. Live Aqua Urban Resort’s 153 guestrooms, including seven suites, offer guests spacious stays with views of the city. The design melds textures and earth tones of light wood floors, exposed brick ceilings, wooden headboards, handcrafted iron lighting, and more.
Other details include framed photography by local artists and a working vintage record player. Luxurious amenities can also be found, such as personalized pillow selections and aromatherapy kits. Each room has deluxe glass-enclosed bathrooms that meld old and new including traditional Mexican tiles and freestanding bathtubs, as well as showers.
Dining
Live Aqua Urban Resorts offers two dining venues. Celebrity Mexican Chef Eduardo Palazuelos introduces Zibu, a fine-dining venue that offers a modern take on Mexican cuisine. Also available is the Asia Bistrot, offering a pan-Asian culinary experience. Another dining option is the resorts’ bakery offering freshly made treats daily.
Leisure Amenities & Wellness
The resort offers guests numerous amenities including an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, a fitness center and a beauty parlor. Opening in Spring 2019 is the hotel’s Feel Urban Spa, which will have 10 treatment rooms, a private pool, sauna and steam rooms. Here, guests can unwind with full-body treatments and facials that combine aromatherapy, calming colors and soothing flavors for a full sensory experience.
Destination Weddings & Meetings
San Miguel de Allende is a locale for destination wedding and events, and now Live Aqua Urban Resort offers a new option to host them. The property encompasses a ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests and can be divided into five sections. There is also a covered outdoor terrace that overlooks a river, ideal for pre-function occasions. Certified meeting and wedding planners are on hand to assist with any occasion.
Setting
Live Aqua Urban Resort is in the heart of the city, located in the Historic Quarter adjacent to the Obraje Reservoir. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008, San Miguel de Allende is known for its historic center, colonial architecture, year-round spring-like climate, cultural celebrations, gastronomy and romantic setting. The city is located in the Bajio region of Mexico, in the state of Guanajuato, and is accessible from several U.S. gateways with direct flights to Leon or via Mexico City.
