The town of Las Catalinas in Costa Rica recently celebrated the opening of its first boutique hotel, Casa Chameleon, according to a new release.
Developed, owned, and operated by NP International, Casa Chameleon at Las Catalinas is set high on a hilltop to offer privacy and intimacy.
Each of the 21 villas has its own saltwater infinity plunge pool and unobstructed views of the Pacific, while public spaces include a zero-edge pool with views to the western horizon, an open-air restaurant and bar featuring cocktails made with local ingredients and a seasonal, sustainable menu using the freshest local ingredients.
Additional amenities include an open-air yoga pavilion, complimentary Wi-Fi property-wide, complimentary local and international phone calls, fully stocked minibar with local Costa Rican products and Bluetooth enabled sound systems in all rooms.
Casa Chameleon at Las Catalinas also incorporates sustainability throughout, including LED lights, a paperless check-in process, eco-friendly, 100 percent biodegradable laundry products and drought-friendly bamboo throughout the gardens. The hotel also uses salt instead of chlorine in the pools.
Hotel guests can also take advantage of the wide range of nearby outdoor activities, including an extensive trail system with more than roughly 25 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, water activities such as SUP, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, boating and fishing. Clients can also choose from the many day-trip eco-tours designed to explore the local flora and fauna.
Located on Costa Rica’s Guanacaste peninsula, Las Catalinas is a compact beach town – an inclusive community without gates using design and architecture to increase pedestrian traffic and encourage community engagement. The town’s infrastructure started in 2009, and the first houses and commercial buildings began construction in 2011.
All elements are arranged to create a series of public spaces interwoven with nature; architecture is adapted for outdoor living, and motorized vehicles are refreshingly absent. On one side, the town is embraced by more than 1,000 acres of spectacular tropical dry forest hills and valleys with extensive hiking, biking, and horseback trails. On the other side is the Pacific Ocean and two great beaches in Costa Rica for swimming, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, boogie boarding and snorkeling.
