The Leading Hotels of the World Adds New European Properties

The Leading Hotels of the World, a collection of independent, luxury hotels, has added several new-builds and recently renovated hotels in Europe to its membership—all of which will be debuting this year.

The following hotels will be opening in 2019:

BLESS Hotel Madrid (Madrid, Spain) – Opening January 2019

Located in the Salamanca district, BLESS Hotel Madrid stands out for its unique style and timeless design within the most exclusive neighborhood in the center of the city. The property’s modern design is equipped with the most advanced technology and features 111 rooms and suites.

Britannia Hotel (Trondheim, Norway) – Opening April 2019

Built in 1870, Norway's Britannia Hotel will embark on a new phase when it reopens following a three-year, $150 million refurbishment. The 257-room property and spa will be refreshed with essential 21st century enhancements, including six F&B concepts, one of which will be led by world-champion chef and Bocuse d´Or silver winner, Christopher Davidsen.

Ikador Luxury Boutique Hotel & Spa (Opatija, Croatia) – Opening April 2019

Located near the coastal town of Opatija with views of the Riviera, the intimate Ikador Hotel will welcome guests to 14 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites. This exclusive property will also feature the Nobilion restaurant, a spa, private beach, heated outdoor pool and only the fourth Riva Lounge in the world.

ĀNANTI Resort, Residences & Beach Club (Rezevici, Budva) – Opening June 2019

Perched on a hillside overlooking the Adriatic, the resort is a bright newcomer to the Montenegro coast. The hotel is comprised of eight villas and 14 suites and comes complete with an exclusive beach, signature Asian-fusion restaurant and kids club. The property will open a fully equipped fitness center and SPA in 2020.

BLESS Hotel Ibiza (Ibiza, Spain) – Opening June 2019

BLESS Hotel Ibiza is situated on Es Canar’s Cala Nova cove. The 151-room property, with views of the Mediterranean Sea, presents unique experiences and services in a paradise complete with hidden coves, hundred-year-old pine forests, and enchanting villages.

J.K. Place Paris (Paris, France) – Opening June 2019

The intimate 30-room J.K. Place Paris will be the J.K. Place brand’s first venture outside of Italy. The stunning property, located on the left bank in a former embassy building, will feature a Sisley spa and pool, Italian eatery by "Casa Tua,” and unique accommodations with Italian and French design influences.

Katikies Garden (Santorini, Greece) – Opening June 2019

Katikies Garden provides an authentic Santorinian experience. The rooms are outfitted with a sophisticated design complete with private pools, gardens and verandas. Guests can also enjoy an underground cave wine cellar, rooftop pool, the De Paul Restaurant, and renowned A. Spa.

Lily of the Valley (Gigaro Beach, La Croix Valmer, South of France) – Opening June 2019

Set on coastline of Saint-Tropez, Lily of the Valley will welcome guests to a year-round wellness sanctuary. Complete with 44 rooms and suites and one prestigious villa, the Philippe Starck-designed property features everything from a private beach to personalized wellness programs.

Savoy Palace (Funchal, Portugal) – Opening June 2019

The Savoy Palace offers a modern take on island hospitality. Designed by an award-winning team, the bold, curved structure is home to 306 chic rooms and 43 suites, some with plunge pool and all featuring balconies to take in the ocean views.

These new member properties are showing off renovations:

Hotel Continental (Oslo, Norway) – Renovation completed December 2018

In 2018, Hotel Continental underwent the largest renovation in the property’s history introducing a new reception, lobby lounge, BAR BOMAN and 58 luxurious rooms and suites. The rooms now boast a classic contemporary style, and the property features a new two-floor, 2,500-square-foot suite.

Hôtel De Paris Monte-Carlo (Monte Carlo, Monaco) – Renovation completed December 2018

After an unparalleled metamorphosis, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo unveils a brand-new experience of its renowned venues and the introduction of new facilities: two exceptional suites with breathtaking views, a private wellness space, a fine jewelry patio, ÔMER by Alain Ducasse and Le Grill, just awarded a Michelin star.

Grand Hotel Barrière Dinard (Dinard, France) – Reopening April 2019

Overlooking the Baie de la Vicomté and the sparkling emerald sea, the property will be treated to a complete makeover by interior designer Alexandre Danan. The project will re-interpret the identity of the Grand Hotel, returning it to its elegant splendor.

One Aldwych (London, England) – Reopening April 2019

Following an extensive refurbishment, One Aldwych in Covent Garden will have fresh, sophisticated interiors and upgraded technology in all 102 rooms, including four new suites. The hotel reception, iconic Lobby Bar, and Indigo restaurant will also have an exciting new look. 

Bairro Alto Hotel (Lisbon, Portugal) – Reopening May 2019

In February 2016, Bairro Alto began an extension project which included the renovation and addition of the adjacent 18th-century building to add 33 rooms and suites. The new area also includes an innovative concept restaurant, four state-of-the-art meeting spaces and an indulgent wellness area.

Grand Hotel Quellenhof (Bad Ragaz, Switzerland) – Reopening July 2019

This year, Grand Hotel Quellenhof, one of three exclusive hotels within Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, will be celebrating its 150th anniversary with a $45 million renovation. Swiss star architect Claudio Carbone will combine historic elements with a classically elegant yet contemporary design. Two new restaurants by Top Chef Sven Wassmer will turn the resort into Switzerland’s culinary hotspot.
