Margaritaville and Karisma Hotels & Resorts are partnering on a new resort brand: Margaritaville Island Reserve by Karisma. Billed as Margaritaville’s first collection of inclusive luxury resorts, the first property for the new brand, the Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun by Karisma, is set to open this winter.
Karisma says that the new brand will combine the company’s service and food and beverage offerings with Margaritaville’s signature food and beverage concepts and iconic design elements. Following the brand’s debut in Cancun, Karisma says it expects to open other Margaritaville Island Reserve by Karisma properties in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, Jamaica, and Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic, among other destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The move is the latest all-inclusive development from Karisma. In 2020, the company plans to open its second Nickelodeon-branded property, the newbuild Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, next to the company’s Generations resort. It will bring over the popular SpongeBob-themed Pineapple Villa from the first Nickelodeon property in Punta Cana, as well as a new, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed “lair” Penthouse. All told, there will be four character-themed Penthouse suites on the resort’s roof, all of which will have infinity pool swim-up access. There will also be an “Aqua Nick” water park and culinary experiences that focus on “Instagrammable” dishes.
Karisma also recently opened a new wellness-focused property, also next to the Generations Riviera Maya: Xolumado Inspiration Village, which is aimed at buyouts for wellness retreats and guests looking for a spiritual escape.
