Marriott International is matching donations to World Central Kitchen and UNICEF in support of Ukraine from Bonvoy members point-for-point, up to 100 million points. Currently, over 46 million Marriott Bonvoy points have been donated (a 2,500-point donation equates to $10, while 125,000 points equals a $500 donation).
In addition, Marriott says many of its hotels are providing accommodations and supplies to refugees fleeing their homes. Its hotels and associates have also raised over $1.7 million in cash and in-kind donations. Further, more than 80 of Marriott’s hotels in countries neighboring Ukraine have signed up to provide free hotel stays for refugees through Hospitality Helps, donating over 11,000 free room nights to date.
“As the war in Ukraine enters its second month, the humanitarian crisis has continued to worsen. We are deeply concerned for the more than 4 million people who have fled Ukraine for safety in neighboring countries, millions more displaced within the country’s borders, and countless others impacted by the fighting,” Marriott International said in a statement. “Associates across the company continue to organize and respond to help those in need. Supporting the communities in which we operate has always been part of Marriott International’s culture and the company has a long history of working with numerous international organizations in support of refugees and displaced people globally.”
In addition to Marriott International’s commitment to deploy $1 million in support of impacted associates, their families and communities in the region, The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation has donated $1 million to support associates and organizations on the ground, including UNICEF, World Central Kitchen, International Rescue Committee, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, La Strada and the International Organization for Migration, as they provide services and relief to those impacted by the crisis. Internal disaster relief funding that Marriott is offering associates and their families who have left Ukraine to assist with resettlement aid include food vouchers, transportation assistance, and medical and legal support.
