The Meliá Collection has added Tenuta di Artimino to its portfolio. Located in Tuscany, the property is slated to open this spring. The recently launched Meliá Collection is a new Meliá Hotels International brand. Tenuta di Artimino, the newest addition, is just 12 miles from Florence and will become the company’s ninth hotel in Italy.
Nestled among the hills and vineyards of Montalbano, once home to an Etruscan settlement, the Medici Villa “La Ferdinanda” was built in 1596 by order of Ferdinando I de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, following a project designed by Bernardo Buontalenti. Popularly known as the Villa dei Cento Camini (Villa of the Hundred Chimneys), it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013.
The hotel sits next to the villa, built within a 17th-century Renaissance building, and accompanied by a group of lodges in the medieval village of Artimino. The estate features 102 rooms, suites, villas and lodges, a winery, gourmet restaurants Biagio Pignatta and La Cantina del Redi, a swimming pool, spa, gardens and event spaces. Over the coming months, the property will see several renovations while also preserving all the historical and cultural legacy of the estate.
Tuscany, the birthplace of the Italian Reinassance, is also known for its hills, cultural heritage and connection to influential figures of the time, now on display in museums such as the Uffizi Gallery and Palazzo Pitti. The region is an oenophile’s paradise, with wines including Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano or Morellino di Scansano, and the Carmignano wine, produced by Tenuta di Artimino.

We are also continuing to explore projects in other popular destinations such as Sardinia and Puglia.”
