Mexico's Velas Resorts Debuts New Children's Activities

Mexico’s Velas Resorts is starting several new activities and services for children heading into summer vacation. With family-friendly properties in Los Cabos, Riviera Maya, Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta, the resort collection offers complimentary stays for kids, discounted rates for teens, dedicated kids’ and teen clubs, baby concierge and gourmet baby food, family spa credits and more. Additionally, a dedicated Summer Camp with glamping, climbing walls, zip line, bungee, nightly shows and drive-in movies runs from July 12 to August 11 at the resorts.

New Kids' Art Gallery, Mexican Toys Workshop & Bubble Bath Menu With Mexican Ingredients at Grand Velas Riviera Maya

Grand Velas Riviera Maya will be offering a new Kids’ Art Gallery along with Mexican Toys Workshop.

  • Kids Art Gallery: Kids will paint using colors and shapes in nature inspired by the masterpieces of the famous Frida Kahlo.

  • Mexican Toys Workshop: Children will spend time brightening up small wooden toys such as trucks and planes. They’ll get to know traditional toys from the Mexican culture like the balero (a wooden barrel-shaped toy in which one tries to catch an attached stick) and trompo (spinning top).

  • Bubble Bath Menu: For an additional cost, children can use ice cream soap bombs full of favorite Mexican flavors, like mango, strawberry hibiscus, dragon fruit, lemon and grape.

Play Your Way to Ice Cream at Grand Velas Los Cabos

At Grand Velas Los Cabos, children can learn how to play with their food in an educational way.

  • Children can experience activities like a lime workshop where they can learn to make it and decorate it with glitter.

  • They can also make soft serve in an Ice Cream ball; add favorite ingredients and then shake, roll, and play with the ball until it turns into ice cream.

Lion King-Themed Oceanfront Spa Cabana for Kids at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit

  • A Lion King-themed spa booth will be set up on the beach at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit to commemorate the film’s photorealistic computer animated remake launching this summer.

  • For kids ages three to 12 years old, offerings include a Princess Massage, Tarzan & Jane Massage designed to increase child mobility with a foulard of “Jane-sque” animal print silk, and a Flower Shower Massage showering children with petals from local flowers including bougainvillea and hibiscus. The 25-minute treatments cost $60.

  • Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit will also be offering its Alebrijes Workshop designed to educate children on the legends and folk art of Mexico. Kids visiting can create their own spirit animal, like Pepita, the creature that was a jaguar, eagle and lizard hybrid in the film “Coco.”

Endless Activities with Eco-Tours & Mini Mariachi at Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta

At Velas Vallarta, there are numerous activities for kids from tennis clinics and cooking classes to human foosball on the beach and Behind-the-Scene Eco Tours. 

  • Kids visiting Velas Vallarta can learn guitar and maracas lessons from a local musician.
  • They can also attend Zumba classes, water basketball, beach volleyball, and painting complement puppet, bird and magic shows and the weekly Mexican Fiesta.
