Monterey Beach Hotel Reopens After Renovation, Rebranding

Monterey Beach Hotel, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, has reopened its doors following renovation and rebranding. Built in 1967, the hotel has reopened under its original name. Managed by Highgate, Monterey Beach Hotel has over 600 linear feet of shoreline. It offers 188 guestrooms and four suites, the majority of which have ocean views.

Set against Pacific Ocean views, Monterey Beach Hotel’s three culinary and cocktail venues offer chef-driven interpretations of central, coastal California flavors. From all-day dining to twilight cocktails atop al fresco decks and beachside courtyards, guests can savor the best that Monterey County has to offer. The property’s culinary, wine and beverage offerings celebrate the hotel’s commitment to the community by way of its local partnerships, including Captain + Stoker coffee, Alvarado Street craft beer, Ad Astra breads and I. Brand & Family winery.

The Lobby Lounge welcomes both locals and hotel guests alike. Offering a take on traditional lounge dining, the daily menu includes fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with dishes comprising from light bites to heartier fare. Guests can also relax by the fireplace and enjoy craft cocktails, alongside a selection of local beers and regional wines.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, The Lantern Room, is open for breakfast and dinner. Rooted in sustainability and a commitment to highlighting produce from nearby farmers and purveyors, The Lantern Room offers a farm-to-table menu and a wine list curated by local winemaker Ian Brand. Tidewater is a beachfront eatery with fire pits and lounge seating where locals and guests alike can dine, and enjoy live music and cocktails. Additionally, artisanal grab-and-go items including curated bottles of beer and wine, sweet treats, and locally sourced snacks are available at the onsite retail market.

The hotel’s facilities include a heated outdoor pool, hot tub and, beginning this fall, Scandinavian-inspired contrast therapy with barrel saunas and ice baths, complimentary Zybra e-bikes for exploring the adjacent Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail, and beyond. Guests can enjoy a range of activities from beer garden pop-ups to traditional East Coast clam bakes, firepit s’mores, outdoor concerts at Tidewater’s oceanfront decks, and beach activities such as volleyball, yoga, sandcastle competitions, and more.
