Award-winning Hong Kong restaurant Mott 32 opened a new location, its first within the United States, late last month at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. The restaurant celebrated the occasion with a star-studded reception and gala at The Palazzo a couple days before Mott 32 opened to the public on December 30.
During the celebration on December 28, guests sampled dishes from across Mott 32’s menu. Attendees ate barbecue Pluma Iberico pork, minced duck in a lettuce cup and crispy sugar-coated barbecue pork buns. Guests also tasted some of the restaurant’s special cocktails, like the Mott St. Mule, Joe’s Elixir and “It’s Five O’clock in Hong Kong.” Over the course of the evening attendees listened to music by the 1920s speakeasy-inspired band Moonshiners, had their fortunes told and, at the end of the night, took home signature drawings from Napkin Killa, whose artwork appears on Mott 32’s cocktail napkins.
Mott 32 aims to channel the spirit of New York City’s Chinatown, taking its name from the neighborhood’s famous convenience store on 32 Mott Street. Based in Hong Kong, the chain also has a location in Vancouver and plans to open another in Bangkok. The new Las Vegas restaurant is located on the casino floor of The Palazzo at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. Now open to the public, the restaurant’s hours will be 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
