Moxy Hotels, a boutique hotel brand from Marriott International, is set to enter the Caribbean and Latin America with plans to reach out into four established destinations at the start of the next decade. Marriott International says entry into this region strengthens the company's select-service tier and provides vacationers a more diverse range of experiences.
Four Moxy Hotels were approved in the Caribbean, Central America and South America. The 165-room Moxy in Medellín, Colombia, was signed last week.
Moxy Hotels launched in Europe in 2014 and has expanded to nearly 30 operating hotels and over 90 properties in its global development pipeline, which include four hotels under development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The brand expects to double its current portfolio by 2020.
More than 240 Marriott International properties are now open and over 110 are designated to be added by the end of 2023. These include over 50 signed select-service properties. Marriott International has upgraded its local development teams with a regional development office for owners and franchisees. The company also has a multilingual, multicultural team in Miami with satellite offices in Mexico City, Bogota, Santiago de Chile and São Paulo.
Marriott International, Inc. is located in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, and it has a portfolio of over 6,700 properties in 30 hotel brands in 130 countries and territories.
