Nayara Gardens, a family-friendly luxury resort near Costa Rica’s Arenal Volcano, has joined Relais & Chateaux.
The 50-bungalow property is set in the rainforest overlooking the volcano, and it is connected by a series of footbridges to its sibling property, the adults-only Nayara Springs, as well as the new Nayara Tented Camp, which is opening December 20. Each bungalow at Nayara Gardens has its own private terrace with an outdoor shower and a Jacuzzi tub for two.
At the Tented Camp, plans call for 29 air-conditioned, tented accommodations, all of which have been built at a higher altitude on the hillside to provide unobstructed views of the volcano. The indoor/outdoor design of the tented accommodations includes a master suite that incorporates design nods to traditional African safari-style tents; with a botanical headboard mural; private plunge pools fed by natural mineral hot springs; and double-head outdoor showers.
At the adults-only Nayara Springs, there are 35 villas with views of the Arenal Volcano. Each villa is equipped with a private plunge pool fed by mineral hot springs and a private garden with exterior shower, four-poster bed wrapped in soft cottons, and indoor and outdoor sitting areas.
The addition of the Tented Camp will bring Nayara’s property to 62 acres of rainforest. All three resorts are two to three hours by car, or 30 minutes via Nayara’s private plane, from the capital of San Jose.
