Standard International has announced the debut of The StandardX, Melbourne on August 8. Located in the post-industrial enclave of Fitzroy, The StandardX, Melbourne is rooted in a neighborhood with a storied history of record stores, sticky-carpeted punk clubs, writers’ haunts and party spots.
The StandardX design is visible through minimalist rooms, complemented by cultural programming and "intuitive" hospitality. The hotel offers 125 guestrooms housed across eight floors of the property. Each guestroom offers modern amenities alongside a plush bed complemented by a millwork ledge that doubles as a writing corner and open closet. From an intimate Cozy King to a spacious Suite Spot with views of Fitzroy and the city skyline, guestrooms at The StandardX, Melbourne are designed with a contemporary esthetic in mind.
The hotel offers three food and beverage outlets that welcome guests and locals alike. Led by Executive Chef Justin Dingle-Garciyya, Bang is an all-day Thai concept. Perched atop the hotel is The Roof, a secret hideaway accessible only to hotel guests. It offers panoramic views of the neighborhood and the city and a dining experience inspired by the flavors of Mercado Medellin. Located in the lobby, The Box is a retail concept that includes everyday essentials, lifestyle items, as well as snacks and beverages to be enjoyed on-the-go or in-room.
Standard International has several future expansion plans for The StandardX brand, with potential targets in Brooklyn, East Austin, Bangkok and more.
