Now Open: Habitas-on-Hudson

The sustainability-led Habitas group has announced the launch of Habitas-on-Hudson, its first property in North America, located in Hudson Valley, New YorkAndre Balazs acquired the property pre-pandemic to turn it into a hotel offering a playful escape from the city. Balazs subsequently met Oliver Ripley, co-founder of Habitas, and they agreed to partner on the project that Habitas now operates.

Habitas-on-Hudson offers 30 rooms across the property’s historic Neo-Baroque Manor House and three adjacent structures. This hotel is a cultural playground, a place for adventure, discovery and relaxation. It is located just outside the village of Rhinebeck, known for its artistry and culinary scene, a stone’s throw from the Hudson River and nestled amid scented forest and rolling fields.

The restaurant is a destination for people to come together for family-style dinners and outdoor BBQs. Immersed in a chef-driven concept using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients from neighboring farms, the menu features minimally transformed dishes with influences from Habitas’ global “Homes.” The bar serves hand-crafted cocktails and local craft beers and focuses on wines from the New York area. An outdoor gathering space will host concerts and artists in residence in addition to signature Habitas global rituals, including Baja El Sol concerts on Sundays and communal family meals.

Habitas will "synchronize" its programming to all four seasons, making it a year-round getaway. Guests are invited to unwind, reconnect and be inspired by Habitas’ core pillars: Wellness, food, music, art, adventure, learning and giving back. On-site activities will include a beach club and swimming in a private pond, padel tennis, volleyball, barrel sauna, jacuzzi, cold plunges, XPT training, an outdoor cinema, archery and ice skating in the winter. Habitas’ immersive programming spans a range of interests, including yoga, mountain biking, breathwork, cooking classes, massages, hiking trails, bonfires with storytelling and s’mores, and a games room.

With its rustic-chic accommodations, elevated programming and farm-to-table dining, Habitas is ideal for weekend getaways and extended stays that fit today’s work-from-afar lifestyle, between friends, family and solo travelers seeking to connect. Habitas-on-Hudson is a two-hour drive or 90-minute train ride from New York City. It offers a nearby escape from the city to relax, connect with others and explore in nature. The property can also be reached by a 30-minute seaplane ride or by a 25-minute helicopter ride.

Additionally, for every guest that stays at Habitas-on-Hudson, Habitas will donate to its RISE Fund, the brand’s impact initiative to support local communities, create jobs and give back to local environmental and social causes.
