Now Open: The Hoxton, Florence

Ennismore has announced the opening of The Hoxton, Florence, marking the brand’s second hotel in Italy, following the launch of The Hoxton, Rome in 2021. The Hoxton, Florence offers 161 rooms split across two buildings: a 16th century late-Renaissance palazzo with its original facade and vaulted arcade, and a 1980s Andrea Branzi-designed building that serves as a modernist juxtaposition, with a timber slatted façade and minimal, linear architecture.

AIME Studios transformed the hotel from a former 16th-century palatial residence, which was originally built during Florence’s late Renaissance era for the Ricasoli family. Original architectural features include an outdoor arcade encircling the courtyard, lime-washed walls and original frescoes dating to 1611.

The hotel’s bedrooms are available across both buildings and are connected by a landscaped courtyard that also serves as an outdoor dining area. While some rooms in the main building frame views of the Duomo, some other have large terraces with outdoor bathtubs and others yet are dual-level with a spacious lounge and spiral staircase.

The hotel also introduces a new “House” category, well-suited for families and groups. The self-contained three-bedroom, four-bathroom apartment has a kitchen, dining area, lounge, outdoor terrace and private entrance. Perks include welcome treats and a house manager, available via Whatsapp, to help arrange everything from dinner cooked by a private chef to tickets to an exhibition, along with personalized Tiny Hox amenities.

F&B options at The Hoxton, Florence include Alassio, a coastal-inspired Italian restaurant. Enoteca Violetta, the bar, serves a range of cocktails, local and international wines and non-alcoholic drinks as well as Italian snacks and a selection of local and European cheeses and cured meats. Located beneath Enoteca Violetta is La Riserva, a tavern in the basement for private dining, tastings and masterclasses.

Event spaces at the hotel include the nearly 970-square-foot La Riserva wine cellar with two connecting rooms and a bar; a 1,400-square-foot shaded rooftop terrace and bar reserved for private hire; and the open-air courtyard, also available for private hire.

Good to know: The Hoxton, Florence supports and celebrates the local community through initiatives like the Hox Gallery, located in the lobby, showcasing the works of emerging artists. Retail options include the Best Of shop as well as the signature HoxShop offering and a pop-up shop in the lobby.

The Hoxton, Florence is a pet-friendly hotel. Guests can also take advantage of complimentary bikes to explore the city and special “mates rates” at Yoga Garage and Anytime Fitness. Weekly runs with Runners of Florence will also take place starting at The Hoxton, including a complimentary light breakfast and post-run fruits.
