The Bellevue, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, has reopened following extensive renovations. Originally established in 1904 by George C. Boldt, the Philadelphia hotel is a historical landmark, affectionately known as the “Grande Dame of Broad Street.” Major debuts include the November 2024 unveiling of 184 newly restored guestrooms, including 39 suites, as well as The Sporting Club, a 100,000-square-foot wellness destination offering fitness and recreational amenities.
The Bellevue’s transformation began in November 2024, unveiling its collection of 184 guestrooms, including 39 suites. The project focused on preserving original details such as motifs integral to the building’s French Renaissance architecture, millwork, honed marble floor tiles and fireplace mantels in the suites, besides infusing a modern touch. With the grand opening, the hotel debuted its Presidential Suite, which spans more than 1,800 square feet. It has a foyer, living room, residential bar, dining room, bedroom with a four-poster bed, as well as a room with a built-in bookshelf and a sectional for relaxing. Within the living room, three French doors lead guests to the Orangerie, an area with Belgian bluestone antique floor tiles and outdoor furniture, creating the feel of a private garden.
The reception desk in the lobby was relocated between two columns, and is set underneath the four-time-zone lobby clock. A gold letter box, from the property’s beginning, is permanently mounted on the wall alongside the lobby’s elevator bank. Though now non-operational, guests can still drop letters, which The Bellevue will mail on their behalf. The letterbox will also be incorporated into the “Long Love Philadelphia” social campaign. Below the letter box is a wooden chest from which children staying at the hotel can select a complimentary toy. To the right of the toy chest is an all-day beverage bar, which serves coffee from La Colombe. Guests can also choose from a list of wines in the afternoon and evening.

Located on the 12th floor is the hotel’s seven-story atrium, The Conservatory. It serves as the centerpiece of the hotel and features a restored glass ceiling, lush greenery and original mosaic tile floors, surrounded by guestrooms and interior-facing suites. Sofas and furnishings are available for guests to gather, work or relax.
Pergola, the rooftop restaurant on the 19th floor is a revival of the original Roof Pergola Garden space from 1904. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Pergola offers classic American cuisine, cocktails and wines.
Throughout the year, The Bellevue will also unveil new additions, including spaces for retail and well-being, as well as a new dining concept called Mr. Edison, a tribute to Thomas Edison, who designed The Bellevue’s lighting for its 1904 opening.
The Sporting Club at The Bellevue spans 100,000 square feet and includes an indoor track, pickleball and squash courts, club spaces with bars and lounges, coworking areas, an outdoor terrace and a lap pool.
Additionally, a collection of 155 luxury rental apartments is spread across seven residential floors, showcasing a variety of floor plans ranging from studios to one-, two- and three-bedroom suites. Public spaces include working spaces and a communal bar within the lobby of The Residences. Residents of The Bellevue will enjoy access to the hotel’s amenities, including membership at The Sporting Club, along with a rotating calendar of community events.
