Travel Agent recently visited The Mirage, which has notable distinctions. One star appreciates its service. Tim Allen, who performs at the hotel, says he always has a great experience working there. “I love working with the staff of the entertainment department at The Mirage. They are great. I also love the staging and technical crew.”
Upon entering The Mirage, travelers stand at an intersection between the charmingly gritty Las Vegas Boulevard and the hotel’s imposing volcano for which it is famous. The outside’s dryish heat is countered by a cool and refreshing waterfall.
The hotel, reflecting Las Vegas tenor, has a litany of slots and tables, formal and casual eateries and a modern spa. The restaurants include:
- Pantry—a 24-hour destination serving a little bit of everything Americana.
- Tom Colicchio’s Heritage Steak—a steakhouse offering up steakhouse specialties, including Waygu beef.
- Osteria Costa—a restaurant serving coastal Italian cuisine.
The spa, tucked within the hotel’s shopping area, is equipped with 16 treatment rooms, including one couple’s room. The Spa and Salon, together, come to more than 22,000 square feet. The custom massage is most popular, blending Swedish and Deep Tissue techniques with personalization. Another one to note is the HydraFacial featuring vortex infusion technology.
Nicole Barnes is the Director of Spa and Salon operations. Michael, boasting over 20 years of experience, is one of the most-requested therapists. He specializes in releasing long-term tension while incorporating deep relaxation techniques into his services. Spa service is 18+ and Salon service is open to everyone.
Not only does the resort provide daily activities, but also bookable ones. The Chief Concierge, Michael Hogan, has one that educates and entertains: the Siegfried & Roy Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat Trainer for a Day program where participants get into a wetsuit and experience a behind-the-scenes look at how dolphin care specialists do their work—including jumping into the water, swimming with dolphins and hands-on learning about behavioral training.
MGM Resorts offers M Life moments, which are solely available for M Life Reward members. One of these is a six-course degustation menu.
Travel Agent spoke with Chris Bond—Vice President of Sales, Catering and Convention services—on the rooms available at the hotel. He says there are some upscale accommodations boasting private butler service. “It’s a limited room product—eight villas and eight Lanais—in a private entrance area. But those range up to 5,000 square feet. Each of them has their own backyard with a pool and just wonderful accommodations.”
For these types of guests, luxury transportation is available. Ground transportation includes an in-house limousine service and Mercedes vans for larger groups.
For families, there is the hospitality suite—a two-bedroom accommodation where the master bedroom has a king bed and the second has two queens. These rooms may feature pool tables, large dining tables or a wet bar. There is one hospitality suite per floor.
Under a recent partnership with Delos, The Mirage created one floor of “Stay Well” guestrooms complement today’s health and wellness trends. These are equipped with circadian lighting, air purification systems, aromatherapy and vitamin C infused shower heads.
When it comes to views, Bond says good ones are ubiquitous to the property. “We’re fortunate where we’re located that there’s honestly not a bad view at the Mirage. But the ones that I would say are the best are going to be anything really facing the Las Vegas Strip.” From the 10th floor-up, from one of the wings, there is a view of the pool.
When booking rooms at The Mirage, Bond advises steering clear of major events like city-wide conventions (unless travelers are looking to go to them), as these fluctuate rates. If looking to book during a special event, do it over six months in advance.
