Debut of Atlantis’ Coral Towers Renovation Delayed Until Late Summer

The BahamasAtlantis, Paradise Island resort has delayed the unveiling of massive renovations to its Coral Towers resort from July 16 to later this summer, according to a spokesperson for the resort.

Travel Agent was told Coral Towers will unveil new elements this July, and welcome its first guests later this summer. The guest rooms will be unveiled this summer through the fall, and the pool will open this fall.

The new Lobby Lounge will be designed in corals, teals, with woven chairs clustered to engage conversation.

The centerpiece of the lobby is the new Soda Fountain, serving milkshakes, espresso and coffee drinks, cocktails, patisserie and gelato. Open throughout the day and evening, the Soda Fountain will offer the option to gather to play a game, share a story or taste new signature items.

Room categories will include king and double queen beds to accommodate families and have a variety of views, including terrace, garden and ocean. Guest bathrooms will have new flooring, vanity accents and modern showers and bathtubs. The corridors will be draped in warm-toned carpeting and ocean-inspired lighting and artwork.

Exclusive amenities will include pint-sized robes and an in-room refrigerator with the ability to pre-purchase snacks.

The new “poolscape" will aim to provide a relaxing environment with private cabanas, family-friendly water activities and a swim-up popsicle bar serving locally-made, preservative-free frozen treats prepared daily with Bahamian fruit.

“We’ve taken a step back to look to the future of Atlantis and truly understand what motivates today’s travelers to choose a destination. We are naturally evolving the property to stay fresh and relevant, and provide a sense of place,” said Howard C. Karawan, president and managing director of Atlantis, Paradise Island, as part of an interview Travel Agent conducted with him in May. "Offering our guests the spirit and culture of the Bahamian people and an immersive connection with the ocean is the core of our product and needed to be the foundation of our impact.”

According to the Caribbean Journal report, it is an estimated $20 million renovation.
