Salamander Hotels & Resorts has made several appointments to its leisure sales team. Key hires include Carolyn Rebeck Allen, VP of leisure sales for Salamander Hotels & Resorts; Carly Cox, area director of leisure sales for Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club (Rendezvous Bay) and Half Moon Resort (Montego Bay, Jamaica); Olivia Gawronski, travel industry sales manager for Hotel Bennett (Charleston, SC); and the promotion of Margaret Thwaites, area director of leisure sales for Salamander Resort & Spa (Middleburg, VA) and Salamander Washington DC.
In her role as vice president of leisure sales for Salamander Hotels & Resorts, Allen is responsible for developing strategic plans to positively impact leisure business and cultivate relationships across various leisure markets. Prior to joining Salamander Hotels & Resorts, Allen served as area director of leisure sales for Auberge Resort Collection’s portfolio of hotels in Mexico. Throughout her career, she held several high-level sales positions, including corporate director of luxury travel sales for Omni Hotels; senior sales manager at Lake Austin Spa Resort; and director of travel industry relations for global hotel and resort partners at Atelier Group. She began her career with roles focused in the Caribbean, including director of travel industry sales for Caneel Bay (then a Rosewood Resort); and area sales manager, hotels of the Caribbean and Mexico, for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.
Cox—the new area director of leisure sales for Salamander’s Caribbean properties, Aurora Anguilla and Jamaica’s Half Moon Resort—most recently held the director of leisure sales role for The Reykjavik Edition, opening the first luxury hotel in Iceland. Previously, she held several influential leisure sales positions with branded and independent hotels around the U.S., Caribbean, Mexico and Europe, most notably working as the area director of sales for The Reserve brand, overseeing leisure sales efforts for Dorado Beach and Zadun during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stateside, Gawronski joined Hotel Bennett in Charleston from Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC, where she was the leisure sales coordinator and worked with the nation’s top travel agencies on a daily basis. Previously, she was the luxury property’s member concierge, and launched her hospitality career as a guest services agent, assisting with the opening of The Drayton Hotel in Savannah, GA.
As the area director of leisure sales for Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, VA and Salamander Washington DC, Thwaites oversees travel industry efforts for Salamander’s flagship property and its newest addition. She began working with the company over four years ago as director of global leisure sales, before working with Half Moon, and Salamander Resort & Spa. Previously, she was national director of travel industry sales for Kessler Collection; director of sales and marketing for The Cove Eleuthera in the Bahamas; and senior sales manager at The Setai in South Beach, FL. She launched her career in various travel industry sales roles with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, which included Pentagon City, VA; and Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne and South Beach in Florida.
