The Sanctuary Beach Resort in Monterey Bay, CA, Unveils Facelift

The Sanctuary Beach Resort in Monterey Bay, CA, has announced the completion of its extensive renovations. The resort has unveiled 60 refreshed rooms and suites, along with a series of experiences tailored to alleviate tech burnout among professionals. Located on the Marina Dunes Preserve, the resort is sprawled across 19 acres.

The 60 newly renovated rooms and suites are outfitted with a fireplace and a terrace framing the beachfront. Each room sports handmade furniture, locally crafted artwork, rattan light fixtures, woven rugs and more. On the F&B side, Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette—home to a central, live-fire kitchen and oyster bar—emphasizes raw, cured and wood-fired cooking styles, showcasing ingredients from Salinas Valley.

Elsewhere, the resort’s new Renewal Studio & Spa offers a range of restorative services and programs grounded in the latest research on the healing power of green and blue spaces. In partnership with Monterey Bay Moves, The Sanctuary will offer daily yoga classes, reiki, meditation, journaling, sound bowl rituals and more. Pretty cool: A local shaman will lead monthly full moon and fire ceremonies on the beach bluff to explore and discuss themes for mindful living as a community.

With an emphasis on educational and immersive nature experiences, The Sanctuary will also host weekend nature walks among the Marina Dunes Preserve with Big Sur Guides & Hiking. The property will continue its community nightly bonfires, as well. S’mores kits are also available for purchase. For science lovers, the property introduces stargazing parties led by a local astronomer.

In addition, the resort has upgraded its pet program with a dog stick library, microfiber dog robes, self-guided walks and VIP amenities, including a BARKcuterie board. Good to know: The resort’s Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette serves farm-fresh meals with its pet-friendly Pawtio Menu.

The resort’s conservation initiatives include landscape restoration of the protected areas for native plants and habitats home to the black legless lizard, brown scarab beetles and shorebirds that lay their eggs in this area. Additionally, Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette maintains a minimal food waste initiative and partners with sustainable fisheries, farms, and local youth and environmental programs.

Deal: The Sanctuary Beach Resort is offering the “Beyond Nature” package until March 31, 2025. This package includes a 5 percent discount on direct bookings, a $25 daily food and beverage credit, complimentary wellness classes, a half-day free bike, a 10 percent discount on Lobby Market products and a complimentary Sanctuary mug. The Sanctuary is also offering the "Burnout Recovery Journey," which includes a 90-minute spa treatment (60-minute relaxation massage and 30-minute HigherDose Infrared PEM Mat experience), a waterproof SLNT phone bag, a nourishing welcome basket and a 20-minute sleep hypnosis audio.
