EQ Hotels has announced that The Store Oxford, a new boutique hotel, is set to open in the former Boswells department store in the heart of Oxford, England this December.
Located within walking distance of the city’s major historical and cultural landmarks, bookstores and cafés, the luxury lifestyle hotel will feature 101 guestrooms, various culinary offerings including a signature restaurant and rooftop bar, spa and lively public spaces.
Located on Cornmarket Street, and established in 1738, Boswells was one of the world’s oldest family-owned department stores on record. Former Boswells employees are set to return, ensuring the same beloved hospitality and a touch of unexpected delight it was once known for.
The hotel’s design will include playful touches with a nod to its department store past. Guestrooms will feature plush velvet headboards, comfortable king size beds, spacious bathrooms and unique artworks.
Culinary programming includes a rooftop terrace, featuring iconic views overlooking Oxford with seasonal activations and F&B menus. The hotel will also be home to a modern signature restaurant and café focused on sustainably sourced produce and the multicultural influences of Oxford. The lobby bar will serve signature cocktails alongside a list of classics, and experiential teas. The lobby will also be used as a co-working space with 1,800 square feet of space for locals and guests alike.
The spa at the boutique hotel will showcase the British spa brand Oskia, offering a range of rejuvenating treatments.
More details on the project as well as reservations going live will be announced in the coming month.
