Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort Names New Managing Director

Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort has appointed a new managing director: James Wyndham. Following the recent debut of a new look alongside amenity enhancements, experiential upgrades and nine new keys, Wyndham will helm the resort as it enters its 30th year in 2022.

Australian-born, Wyndham joins Sugar Beach with a background that spans over 30 years in the luxury hospitality space. Having worked everywhere from Sydney to Dubai and most recently the Bahamas, Wyndham brings a wealth of industry experience to the St. Lucian Resort. In his new role, Wyndham will oversee all aspects of hotel operations for Sugar Beach.

Originally beginning his career in food and beverage with Ritz-Carlton and Accor, Wyndham then transitioned into sales roles within the Four Seasons brand and Jumeirah Group, which led him to expand his hospitality expertise in the United Arab Emirates. He has previously held roles of general manager of the Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley and vice president of guest relations of Atlantis, The Palm. He joins Sugar Beach from his most recent role as GM for The Island House in the Bahamas, where he navigated the resort’s strategic development during the pandemic.

Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort is located between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Pitons in St. Lucia. The estate is complete with private accommodations, each with its own dedicated butler and plunge pool, the Tata Harper Spa, a selection of restaurants and bars, and a brand-new fitness and activity center. The recent renovation included new Oceanfront Bungalows and Luxury Cottages, upgrades to all food and beverage outlets, and an overall enhanced guest experience.
