Toscana Resort Castelfalfi has officially reopened following the most comprehensive renovation in its history. The 146-room and villa destination offers views of the surrounding hills and vineyards, as well as access to the region’s largest championship golf course, a spa and numerous dining options serving authentic Tuscan cuisine.
Owned by the Lohia Family, Toscana Resort Castelfafi's multimillion dollar renovation has unveiled new public spaces, guestrooms and suites, including brand-new restaurant Olivina, with Chef Davide De Simone at the helm. Located in the heart of the Tuscan hills between Florence and Pisa, the property is set amid rolling landscape made up of vineyards and olive groves, cypresses and giant pine trees; and includes the medieval borgo with its ancient castle.
The signature suites and spa were overseen by French decorating firm Affine Design, while Italian studio Caberlon Caroppi oversaw the guestrooms, junior suite and suite terrace. All rooms and suites have had a complete overhaul. Affine Design took inspiration from the Tuscan landscape surrounding the property during the creation of four signature suites, including the Castelfalfi Suite and Castelfalfi Grand Suite.
The La Spa, reopening in fall 2023, will offer an indoor/outdoor infinity pool, traditional rituals and contemporary treatments. Until the renovation is complete, guests are still able to enjoy treatments in a designated pop-up spa, found in La Tabaccaia, one of the estate’s historical buildings.
The resort also offers what is claimed to be the region's largest golf course. The 27-hole layout is divided into two courses, designed by architects Preißmann and Morode, and is one of the country’s most challenging courses. Good to know: The resort recovers rainwater for irrigation of the grounds, which has granted the estate the GEO Certified eco-label, an international guarantee of high-quality sport.
With acres of vineyards and olive groves, Castelfalfi is a place where guests can experience every type of adventure. More than just a place to stay, Castelfalfi produces its own wine and olive oil. In celebration of the estate reopening, Fonterinaldo is the property’s latest white wine. Using Vermentino grapes—the wine symbol of a territory bordering Florence, Pisa and Volterra—a small production of 1,500 bottles came to fruition.
Some of the event and public spaces at the hotel have also been redesigned by Studio Caberlon Caroppi. The highlight of the public areas is denoted by an art piece: A globe made of Marble as a nod to the Tuscan heritage of a medieval city.
