Joie de Vivre Hotels, the boutique lifestyle brand from Two Roads Hospitality, has opened its first property in the southern U.S., The Troubadour. Now open, the boutique property resides in a 7-story landmark building that houses 184 rooms at 111 Gravier Street, in New Orleans’ Central Business District.
To mark its grand opening, The Troubadour is offering guests everything they need to rebound from a lively night out in New Orleans. Guests who stay at the hotel within its first 50 days open will receive a $50 credit towards another stay in 2017. The package includes a late check out, two complimentary cocktails and an in-room “Surviving NOLA” kit, complete with hangover remedies like Bloody Mary ingredients, aspirin, coconut water and bananas. In-room fridges are will also be stocked with fresh-pressed juices.
Originally developed as an office building, The Troubadour’s building was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places. Locally-based Campo Architects were able to keep the building’s original staircase intact while developing the hotel, which leads guests to the second floor Lobby Lounge and the Highball and Snifter meeting rooms. Full length windows, retro-style refrigerators, mini-bars with locally-sourced inventory and two person bar tops for guests to enjoy in-room cocktails create a modern aesthetic in each of the hotel’s boutique style guest rooms. Guestroom bathrooms feature Jonathan Adler custom-scented bath amenities – a signature of the Joie de Vivre brand.
Designed to be locally-inspired and locally-sourced, The Troubadour embraces the local New Orleans community by using local tastemakers like Gabriel Flores and Juley Le to create the hotel’s programming. Flores will create one-of-a-kind art installations while Le has created ready-to-wear staff looks, with design influence from the hotels upgraded and classic architecture.
Chef Philip Lopez is overseeing The Troubadours two dining concepts, Petit Lion and Monkey Board. Petit Lion is the hotel’s signature, 64-seat restaurant offering modern and Parisian fare all day, while Monkey Board is the hotel’s yet-to-open rooftop bar, slated for an opening in January 2017.
