Last week, the Trump Administration added 26 new properties to the list of entities that Americans are prohibited from patronizing because they are owned by the Cuban military. The so-called Cuba Restricted List includes the new five-star Iberostar Grand Packard Hotel and SO/ Havana Paseo del Prada in Old Havana.
The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) recommends reviewing the list, which includes a number of hotels in Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Veradero, Cayos de Villa Clara, Holguín, Jardines del Rey, Topes de Collantes and elsewhere on the island, before making bookings for your U.S. clients traveling to Cuba.
In addition to those named above, hotels that have been added to the Restricted List include Blau Marina Varadero Resort, Hotel Las Nubes, Hotel Oasis, Iberostar Bella Vista, Angsana Cayo Santa María, Golden Tulip Aguas Claras, Las Salinas Plana & Spa, La Salina Norest, La Salina Suroeste, Paradisus Los Cayos, Sercotel Experience Cayo Santa María, Starfish Cayo Santa María, Valentín Perla Blanca, Warwick Cayo Santa María, Blau Costa Verde Beach & Resort, Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo, Kurhotel Escambray.
For a refresher on the new Cuba travel rules put in place by the Trump Administration last year, advisors can take a look at Chapter 13 of ASTA’s members-only Regulatory Compliance Handbook. For a full list of all properties, tour agencies, entities and holding companies that appear on the Restricted List, refer to the U.S. State Department.
