Virtuoso has added its first property in Montauk, a luxury travel destination near New York City, to its portfolio of luxury hotels: Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa. Montauk is at the tip of Long Island, about 100 miles from New York City and accessible from Manhattan via the Hampton Jitney bus service, a local mainstay. It's also a little over three hours on the Long Island Railroad.
The luxury hotel recently underwent a multi-phase, multi-year refresh, beginning in 2018, under ownership led by George Filopoulos and Lloyd Goldman. The year-round Hamptons spa destination added new oceanfront luxury guest rooms, revamped its Beach Club – which the property says is the only beach dining in the area – and updated its ocean-fed seawater swimming pool.
The hotel also renovated its public spaces, including a new lobby and upgraded banqueting facilities. Following the refresh, the resort now has wellness and lifestyle programming year-round, including studio classes and nightly entertainment.
Set on a stretch of oceanfront in Montauk, the resort also has direct access to a 2,000 foot private sand beach and 146 guestrooms, suites and beachfront cottages, all with ocean views. Billed as the only four-season resort on Montauk, the property also has year-round wellness and lifestyle program, the only indoor, ocean-fed seawater spa in the United States and four casual and fine dining restaurants overseen by LDV Hospitality, including Italian hotspot Scarpetta Beach.
Gurney’s Resorts has also expanded to Newport, RI, as well as opened a second resort in Montauk and oceanfront residences.
The resort’s inclusion in Virtuoso’s portfolio provides it access to sales and marketing opportunities through Virtuoso’s network of 17,500 luxury travel advisors.
