It’s been a busy year for luxury suites in London.
Corinthia Hotel London kicked off the year with the addition of two new suite categories, for 11 additional suites in total. The Garden Suites overlook the property’s courtyard, with a design reflecting the garden theme: a green color palette, soft furnishings and live plants. The London Suites, meanwhile, have light interiors with a more contemporary feel, highlighted by Cubist pieces of art and sculpture. All of the new suites have separate living rooms, oversized beds, marble bathrooms with underfloor heating, built-in TVs over the bathtubs and tropical rain showers.
In the summer, when royal wedding mania was in high gear, The Milestone Hotel & Residences launched a new suite in honor of newlywed Duchess Meghan Markle. Part of a three-year renovation at the property, the new suite was created by the design team from the Red Carnation Hotel Collection – the Collection’s Founder and President Beatrice Tollman and her daughter, Toni Tollman. The Meghan Suite has a handmade Savoir bed, custom Italian silks, contemporary art and an 18th-century French ebony desk, with a bathroom done in black and white marble. At the same time, the hotel also added the new 106 Grand Master Suite (aka The Hermès Suite for its vintage collection of Hermès scarves), which has a bronze four-poster bed, original period furniture and 12-foot coffered ceilings, as well as a private balcony accessed by floor-to-ceiling doors.
Looking ahead, this winter’s debut of the new Belmond Cadogan Hotel will see the addition of several new suites to the city. The three top suite categories at the hotel – Park View Corner Suites, the Royal Suite and the Penthouse Suite – will all have king-size beds, a walk-in closet and living rooms with vintage design flourishes. The Royal Suite is also famous as the room where Oscar Wilde was arrested.
