Grupo Vidanta is planning new rides for Vidanata World, a collection of entertainment parks on the company’s Nuevo Vallarta beach resort. At the recent IAAPA Expo, the developer purchased two new rides from Intamin Amusement Rides and one new ride Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group, which are slated for the park.
By winter 2020, Vidanta and Doppelmayr will open The Vidanta SkyDream, an aerial gondola with D-Line technology that will connect the entertainment parks to the beach. Billed as the first of its kind in Latin America, the gondola will have five stations on a four-plus-mile route. Guests will be able to choose between regular and glass-bottom cars.
From Intamin, Grupo Vidanta purchased an approximately 148-feet-diameter coaster wheel, a Ferris wheel with a mix of standing cabins and cabins that can move along a track to provide more thrills for passengers. This configuration will also include a lighting design that will be part of a grand lake show.
The second ride from Intamin is an approximately 131-meter parachute drop, which will whisk families up and down by the water’s edge, offering views of the surrounding parks, resort and beach.
Grupo Vidanta said that it is planning additional purchases during the annual IAAPA Expo, which is being hosted by the Global Association for Attractions in Orlando, Florida, from November 18 – 22.
