Aurora Expeditions has named Lisa Bertini its new National Sales Manager USA, a new position within the North American market. She joins the dedicated U.S. team alongside George Johns, business development manager, and brings with her over 25 years of experience in the travel industry. Bertini’s previous brand experience includes Virtuoso, Zegrahm Expeditions, Society Expeditions Cruises and Cox & Kings (The Americas).
Bertini will primarily be responsible for driving and developing the travel agent distribution in the United States, and she will be based in Seattle.
In a written statement Aurora Expeditions Managing Director Robert Halfpenny said that Bertini would work to grow the brand’s North American business shortly after last year’s launch of its first purpose-built expedition ship, the Greg Mortimer. A second ship, the Sylvia Earle, is scheduled to make its debut in 2021.
The appointment of Lisa follows a series of global hires Aurora Expeditions has made in the past 12 months as the company continues to grow. It was founded 28 years ago, and it offers experiences in remote destinations through a range of flexible itineraries, with chances for mountain climbing, sea kayaking, camping, photography, and polar snorkeling and scuba diving along with a crew of naturalists, geologists, historians and guides.
Aurora Expeditions was one of the founders of the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators (IAATO), which created the environmental protocols for all commercial visitors to Antarctica. This was followed up with the establishment of the Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO), to manage respectable, environmentally friendly and safe expeditions in the Arctic.
