Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, recently acknowledged the contribution of Sandals Resorts International, among others, to the development of the Caribbean region. Minister Bartlett called for greater stakeholder support for such brands while reaffirming the value of their contributions.
Minister Bartlett made the announcement at the recent Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Action Network on Post-Disaster Recovery in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Participants included Hillary Clinton and former U.S. President Bill Clinton. The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Action Network on Post-Disaster Recovery connects leaders from across sectors to cultivate plans that advance recovery and promote long-term resilience across the region.
Sandals Resorts and others were impacted by the severe hurricane season of 2017. However, the all-inclusive resort company relaunched in record time throughout countries where tourism is the main economic force.
Sandals Resorts has been voted World’s Best 23 consecutive times at the World Travel Awards. It employs some 14,000 team members across the Caribbean and both a major influencer in the economies of several islands where it operates and a leading foreign exchange earner.
