Premier Worldwide Marketing (PWM), the exclusive worldwide representative for Karisma Hotels & Resorts, has announced the promotion of Marilyn Cairo to associate vice president of sales for North America. In her new role, Cairo is responsible for all facets of sales, including retail, weddings, groups and wholesale for Karisma’s hotel collection, including its properties in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Cairo now manages a team of 20 representatives focused on driving bookings from the United States and Canada. As associate vice president of sales for North America, Cairo oversees the entire trade business, allowing her to take a more global view of each segment and streamline efficiencies on behalf of Karisma’s adults-only and family-friendly brands, including Margaritaville Island Reserve by Karisma, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts, El Dorado Spa Resorts, Azul Beach Resorts, Generations Riviera Maya, Karisma Villas and Hidden Beach Resort.
Cairo joined Premier Worldwide Marketing as senior director of retail sales, North America. During her two-year tenure, she revamped the sales team to focus on a brand strategy for Karisma’s portfolio, and realigned the group’s focus, resulting in over $1 million in sales for groups traveling in 2020 and representing 30 percent year-over-year growth.
Cairo’s promotion follows the recent groundbreaking on Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana by Karisma in the Dominican Republic and Karisma’s plans to open its first Margaritaville Island Reserve in Mexico’s Riviera Cancun in March 2020. Also next year, Karisma and Viacom will open Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, representing Mexico’s first and only Nickelodeon resort, and marking the second within the collection of resorts, following the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana.
Cairo’s career spans nearly three decades. Prior to joining Karisma, Cairo served as director of marketing for SMS Lodging, which owns boutique hotels in Key West and South Beach, FL. She was also the managing partner for a hospitality solutions company after spending several years at Sandals Resorts in roles including marketing programs manager and inside sales manager.
