Protravel International, LLC has announced the promotion of Michele (LaRosa) Capaccio to chief operating officer. A 35-year travel industry veteran, Capaccio is overseeing day-to-day operations of the travel agency organization and reports to Protravel President Becky Powell.
Capaccio first joined Protravel in 1986. She has held a wide range of responsibilities, Protravel said, spanning accounting and office management to the integration of multiple new branches, HR administration, and the design and development of agent tools and resources. Her role also entails providing guidance and support to hundreds of independent travel advisors in a wide variety of areas.
Capaccio is based in Protravel’s headquarters in New York City.
The new appointment comes during a time of changes for Protravel as part of parent company Travel Leaders Group’s ongoing investment in luxury travel. Two years ago the organization was brought under Travel Leaders’ new Elite Travel Division with fellow New York-based brand Tzell Travel Group, although it has remained a distinct travel agency business within the division and it has maintained its Virtuoso affiliation.
Looking ahead, next up for Protravel (along with Tzell) is a move to a new headquarters in New York City, at 1633 Broadway. In his latest update to Travel Agent at the Elevate the Journey tradeshow, Travel Leaders Group CEO Ninan Chacko said that the move to the new space has just begun, and that the new headquarters would serve as a showcase for both brands, as well as for the strength of the travel agency sector in general.
