Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has named Kristian Anderson, senior vice president of global sales at Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, as the new chair of the CLIA Trade Relations Committee (TRC). In this role, Anderson will lead the committee which consists of senior leadership within the sales and marketing divisions of CLIA’s Cruise Lines.
The Trade Relations Committee works to empower travel agencies and agents to grow consumer, media and industry awareness about the merits of cruise travel and CLIA’s longstanding commitment to safety, security, health and sustainability across the cruise industry, CLIA said.
“Kristian Anderson has been a strong sales leader within the tourism and cruise industry for many years and we are very excited to have him leading our Trade Relations Committee,” said Marla Phaneuf, vice president, industry relations, CLIA, in a written statement. “Kristian is an avid supporter of industry growth and serving as TRC chair will increase his ability to elevate the cruise industry to a higher level.”
Anderson oversees Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection’s sales force, where he drives creative sales development, strategy and progress to meet the company’s revenue goals.
Prior to his role at Uniworld, Anderson served as senior vice president and general manager at Silversea Cruises where he oversaw the American markets for four years. At Silversea, he increased sales by targeting previously untapped markets and increasing organizational efficiency, which resulted in increased revenue for Silversea.
Anderson assumes the chairmanship from Vicki Freed, senior vice president of sales, trade support and service for Royal Caribbean International, who served as committee chair in 2017.
