It’s been another busy week for executive appointments at tour operators, cruise lines and hotels in the travel industry.
This week Apple Vacations President Tim Mullen announced his intention to retire from parent company Apple Leisure Group at the end of the year. Before then, he will remain on in a transitional role. Mullen, who is 53, has been with the company for 31 years, including during its recent merger with The Mark Travel Corporation.
In cruise news, Princess Cruises has named Captain Giorgio Pomata as Commodore of the cruise line’s 17-ship fleet. Pomata has been with Princess for 40 years, first joining on Sitmar Cruises’ Fairwind ship as a cadet. Through the years, he served in positions including junior deck officer, safety officer, staff captain, and eventually was named captain in 2000. The title of commodore is an honor that is bestowed upon the most senior captain of a fleet of ships, and the position represents the highest rank attainable to a Princess Cruises mariner.
In hotel news, this week Auberge Resorts Collection announced the appointments of Alex Batista as area director of sales and marketing, Christy Patterson as area director of leisure sales, and Michael Boulanger as area sales manager. Together, they will support Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection’s beach resort on the island of Anguilla, which reopens on December 15.
Outrigger Hotels and Resorts named Jamie Wong director of revenue management for OHANA Hotels by Outrigger and Jacqueline Freeman director of talent acquisition. Wong now oversees pricing and revenue optimization for OHANA Hotels by Outrigger, to include the OHANA Waikiki East by Outrigger and OHANA Waikiki Malia by Outrigger, while Freeman is responsible for targeted talent acquisition strategies, recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, and recommending placement of qualified applicants for Outrigger Hotels and Resorts.
Also this week Allegiant named Jason Shkorupa vice president of food and beverage for Sunseeker Resorts. In this role, he will oversee all aspects of the company’s food and beverage division, from strategic direction and concept development to property operations. Shkorupa most recently served as vice president of food and beverage for MGM Grand Hotel and Casino Las Vegas.
In North America, Millennium Hotels and Resorts appointed Erik Anderouard to senior vice president, North America; Jeremiah Galvin to vice president finance, North America and Tony Lee to vice president of human resources, North America.
Corinthia Hotels appointed a brand communications manager, Camilla Colley, to lead the development and implementation of the Corinthia communications strategy internationally. Camilla has held a variety of senior PR and communications positions, most recently as senior account manager at Travel PR, a travel and lifestyle PR company where she worked on, among others, Pride of Britain Hotels, Hoshino Resorts and the Eden Hotel Collection.
A number of individual properties also made new leadership appointments this week:
- Opening downtown in late October, Moxy DC has appointed three key executives: Mark Namdar, Moxy DC Captain (general manager); James Rattray, director of sales and social media; and Brianna Hall, director of food and beverage.
- Paradisus Los Cabos, a member of Leading Hotels of the World, named Teresa Alfonso as the property’s new managing director.
- Fontainebleau Miami Beach promoted Kevin Bryant from executive director of sales to vice president of sales.
- YOTEL Boston, a 326-cabin hotel that opened in the Seaport in June 2017, made three leadership appointments: Trish Berry as general manager; Jason Cool as beverage director; Felicia Rahm as director of sales and marketing.
- W San Francisco named Vanessa Mina its the new W Insider, a role responsible for elevating guest experiences and overall brand standards for the property.
